Hi there. Interesting question. My pediatrician was named “Haas”, which I have thought might be either German or Middle Eastern… not sure, but my mother used to dance around the house singing “I’m the sheik of Arabi… your love was meant for me…”, so I kinda imagine the good doctor was middle eastern. ? I was c’d in KC,KS. My family was not religious at all at that time… from what I know. We are both fortunate to have survived; some haven’t. Let me know if you learn more.

I’m very curious as to how direct was the connection between Seventh-Day Adventist physicians JH Kellogg and E Harrold Shryock and your childhood FGM trauma. I was born and circumcised (male) in the Sanitarium on Loma Linda’s eponymous hill at a time when Shryock would have been mid-career as an administrator at Loma Linda University, and my dad is now a retired professor of anatomy at that university. As a grade schooler after school, I would find my way to his office and laboratory … in Shryock Hall … to await a ride home. I’m still not sure whether the building’s eponym was E. Harold or his dad.
